Three commercial letters from Savvas Joannou to Savvas Loizides

Περιγραφή

Savvas Joannou had a stationer's and bookshop in Famagusta (Varosia) from 1913 on. He produced many postcards of churches and other sites in Cyprus, including the church of St. George ‘Exorinos’ in Famagusta. In the letter dated 27 October 1932, Joannou refers to the well-known bookshop of Eleftheroudakis in Athens. He writes to Loizides about financial matters.

His correspondent, the Cypriot Savvas Loizides, had been exiled by the British government in Cyprus because of his anti-British stance. He acted as a sort of consul in Athens for the Cypriots who had to deal with Greek merchants, etc. He later became a member of parliament after Cyprus became independent.
