Cose Successe ...
This manuscript appears to be a form of newsletter, beginning ‘1584 Constantinopoli’, with reports from Venice and various parts of Italy, as well as Constantinople, Jerusalem, Malta, Spain, France, Tripoli di Barbaria, Algiers, the Ionian Islands and Crete. It is possible that it is based on reports sent to the Venetian senate by its representatives abroad and on discussions in the senate itself. Of particular interest is a discussion that took place in the senate on 27 May 1584 relating to an exchange of prisoners taken by the Ottomans at the fall of Famagusta (1571) for several important Ottoman captives held by the Venetians.
