This work, which is of particular significance for Cyprus, consists of 13 letters written by Drummond, mostly to his brother, during the years 1744-1750 while he travelled in Cyprus and Asia Minor on business. Letters 6, 7, 8, and 13 refer to Cyprus. There is a map of Cyprus, dedicated to George Wakeman, British consul in Larnaca, in letter 9, and a plate of Larnaca bay (Salines) in letter 8. Engravings of St. Mammas, St. Hilarion and Buffavento, Bella Pais, and the church of Kanakarga and Cantara Castle are to be found in letter 13. After the publication of his book, Drummond was appointed British consul in Aleppo.
