Through this database of the survey, you may explore a rich and unique historical source concerning the people, society, economy and the environment of Cyprus. Discover property owners, their households, the places where they lived and their daily life as it emerges from the survey records. The online application uses the Ottoman property survey of 1832/33, consisting of four manuscript volumes, in total 1381 pages, that belong to the Ottoman State Archives in Istanbul (ML.VRD.TMT.d.16152-5). The application is part of the research programme ‘Economy, environment, and landscape in the Cypriot longue durée: A Combined Analysis Using Historical Data and Geoinformatics Applications’, which was developed by the Department of Geography of Harokopio University and funded by the Sylvia Ioannou Charitable Foundation (2019-2023).
