Description

Patrick Russell was the half-brother of Alexander Russell, and he edited the second edition of Russell’s Natural History of Aleppo, 1794. Alexander Russell was physician to the Levant Company’s Factory at Aleppo from 1740 to 1753. His brother Patrick joined him in 1750 and eventually took over as physician to the Factory, where he was in residence until 1771. He is best known for his work on the snakes of India, where he settled in the 1780s. His Treatise also contains an account of the plague in Cyprus on pp. 3-8.
