Second edition in German of Libellus de itinere ad Terram Sanctam. Ludolph’s account of his pilgrimage is the earliest printed account of the Holy Land, published before the more familiar travels of Breydenbach. Ludolph made the pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 1336 and he travelled extensively in the Levant from 1336 to 1341. In addition to the Holy Land, he visited Rhodes, Crete, Cyprus, Constantinople and so forth. His book was written about 25 years after he returned from his journey.
