Description

This work was frequently reprinted in 8vo in the late 18th century and well into the 19th. The Swedish travellers Höpken and Carlsson [=Carleson] travelled together in Cyprus and the Holy Land from 1733 to 1736. In March 1734 they arrived in Constantinople and carried out a diplomatic mission which involved the Count de Bonneval. Höpken remained in Turkey until 1742, while Carlsson was there until 1745. This account of their journey was edited by L. R., that is, Lorens Rebrén or Rebréen (1748-1813).
