INSPIRAL, the online platform for travel literature and historical geography by the Sylvia Ioannou Charitable Foundation, is now available with a new look, new features, and new additions.

The Foundation, in the scope of its mission to preserve and disseminate the historical and cultural heritage of Cyprus, has enriched the INSPIRAL platform by indexing 17 additional books from its Collection. The new entries are derived from the 15th to 18th century texts, written in 6 different languages (Dutch, English, French, Italian, German, and Portuguese) concerning the natural and built space, culture and history of Cyprus. The platform now hosts 100,000 entries from 157 travel literature books. The newly indexed books are available here.

At the same time, the new version of the platform improves the user experience through easy navigation and modern design. New filters has been added in search and also new features for discovering accurate recordings of Cyprus toponyms and their variations. Extra material has been indexed and made searchable, such as maps, illustrations, insets, and indexes.

With this new upgrade, INSPIRAL evolves into an even more comprehensive and dynamic information hub for the history and culture of Cyprus. The Sylvia Ioannou Charitable Foundation continues its journey of highlighting historical documents, leveraging the possibilities offered by the digital humanities.
