Academy of Athens Award to the edition ‘Cyprus: The Book of Maps’

Athens, 18 December 2025

At its Ceremonial Session on 18 December 2025, the Academy of Athens presented an award of 2025 to the edition Cyprus: The Book of Maps. Annotated Catalogue of the Printed Maps of Cyprus (catalogued by Ashley Baynton-Williams, edited by Artemis Skoutari).

This is a three-volume annotated catalogue designed to record every printed map of Cyprus within a span of 400 years, from ca 1485 to 1885. The first volume (2016) is devoted to the 15th and 16th centuries and the second volume (2020) to the 17th century, while the third volume (2025) covers the 18th century to 1885.

This is the second award presented to the Sylvia Ioannou Charitable Foundation by the Academy of Athens; in 2022 the edition Ἡ Ἱστορία ἔχει πρόσωπο / History Has a Face was also presented with an award.
